Dr Jorge Zavala

Neurologist

Dr Jorge Zavala has been working in the field of neurology since 2002. Throughout his career he has developed experience in the management of a broad variety of neurological disorders such as stroke, headaches, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, neuropathy and functional neurological disorders. Dr Zavala is also a visiting medical neurologist at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, one of the major teaching hospitals in the country. At Alfred Hospital, he is a Stroke Unit consultant. He is also involved in neurology teaching for medical students and supervision of neurology trainees.

Dr Zavala obtained his medical degree in the year 2000 and is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australia New Zealand Association of Neurologists since 2011. From 2005 to 2007 he was a stroke research fellow at the National Stroke Research Institute in Victoria, under the supervision two of the former presidents of the World Stroke Organisation.

Dr Zavala is a member of the National and Victorian Neurology Training Committee and he is responsible for organising the selection process for doctors applying for the neurology training programme in the state of Victoria.

At Malvern Neurology and Cabrini Hospital in Malvern, Dr Zavala manages inpatients and outpatients with various neurological conditions.
